The Zürich 7
TAC Gallery - August 2025
Seven women started a revolution in higher education
University of Zürich, 1864–1874.
At the time, no other schools were accepting women on the same terms as men, the University of Zürich took on the experiment—news quickly spread around the world as society was captivated by the sudden rise of the “Lady Doctors.”
Digital Art
Created in Virtual Reality with digital drawing tools, each of the seven doctors are represented with a continuous string of thread showcasing their individual natures and imperfections. It also reminds us women in the 1860s were physically limited due to their giant tiered and corseted gowns. The single thread art was brought into the real world by 3D printing, acrylic prints and digital photo prints. Examples of pieces combined with sewing and quilting are shown below.

Layered Mixed Media Art
The collection for the TAC Gallery presented August 2025 showcases a combination of art styles. Digital photos, hand-made paper, and acrylic coated canvases were dissected and recombined to illustrate a small part of the story that connects these seven women.
